Letter to me

"DO NOT GO DOWN WHERE THE PATH MAY LEAD, GO WHERE THERE IS NO PATH AND LEAVE A TRAIL."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

When I was a senior in high school I thought that I had everything figured out. I was going to go to college at Frostburg State University and I was going to graduate then get a job get married have children and live happily ever after; that didn't really happen I got something so much better so for this blog post I'm going to write a letter to my 17 year old self.

Dear Jessica,
I'm pretty sure that right now you are as freaked out about receiving this letter as I am writing it. I want to inform you of what you have to look forward to in about 3 years so that you can head down the right path and not make so many mistakes. I think that you will find this information very useful in helping you plan for the future.
First of all I know you want to get out of Carroll County and explore the world but trust me when I say it will be the biggest mistake of your life. You will have three horrible roommates and it snows all the freaking time. My advise is listen to our mother and go to Carroll Community College and get an "AA" degree because our parents are paying for it!!
Also, on September 17th 2009 you will meet the man of our dreams!!! His name is Philip Courtney and he is in the Air Force. You will meet him off of the internet and people will tell you that your crazy but you will marry him after knowing him only 90 days. I wouldn't worry about dating other guys for now because nothing will compare to what he brings to the table. You will also have a son named Nathaniel and he will be the light of your life
Finally, I think you should know that you will find out who your true friends are in life and to give you a hint it's not ( Cassey or Heather) they will both try to use you for your friendship and take advantage of your friendship. Ashley is a true friend and she is the one that you will want to stand by your side at your wedding and she is the one who you will tell all your thoughts and feelings too. (BTW you need to tell her to be with Bradley because he is a really good guy and stuff)
I hope this letter helps you and gives you the information to make wise decisions and leads you to this amazing life that you have now.
                                                                         Sincerely,
                                                             The 20 year old you!!!

P.S.   STAY FAR AWAY FROM J BAR W RANCH!!!!!!!!! YOU WILL THANK ME!!!!!

Friendships...

I'm sure many military wives have gone through this one so i figure i should talk about it well now... Through out high school and college I had a great group of friends~we did almost everything together from going to school dances to crying over a break up. But as i entered my new life as a military wife it became very clear that my once best friends were not going to be as close anymore. You see i was the first out of my group of friends to marry and not only that but I married a wonderful man in the air force. It became harder to understand where they were coming from and they found it hard to see where I was coming from. They wanted to party and I wanted to catch a movie with my husband as weeks and months past we sort of grew out of touch and the fact that I now live almost an hour away from home im not really "in the loop" anymore... But i have good news once i moved on base i gained a new group of friends that I was able to connect with on a much deeper level... for example one of my newest best friends is my neighbors they are a ton of fun to hang out with and the get it. I've tried to explain what it is before but I can't seem to sum it all up however i do know that my old friends didn't really get it~~ I want to say that "it" is the military life style and for that matter the married to the military lifestyle its very different then others~~ I mean we go through alot from being single parents when your husband is on a deployment to figuring out the hell 1900 means- anyway thats all for now...

Life lessons and then some...

I'm pretty sure that we have all been here and as you can see this pic I found says it all sometimes we just have to put on our big girl panties and face our problems head on and stop complaining. I learned this all to well over the past few years as a matter of fact. Life isn't always fair and its not always going to be a walk on the beach. Instead of laying in bed eating a gallon of ice cream and watching chick flicks~get out there and make things happen for you!! STOP FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF AND JUST BE YOU!!!
Not everyone is going to like the way that you look or how you do things in life but if we stop letting others control our lives and start living we may just find that life is just a little better this way!!

Welcome to My Blog!

Hello everybody & Welcome to my blog.
I'm not to sure as to why I have decided to write a blog but the point is I'm doing it. Maybe it's to help out other military wives who are dealing with the same type of crap that I am or maybe it will be to keep my family and friends in the loop but whatever this turns out to be~I promise that you won't be disappointed when you read this!!
Anyway I think I will start by tell everyone a little about myself and my family.
I’m Jessica Renee Courtney. I am 19 and I will be 20 on October 5th (I’m a PRINCESS and I love the color pink) I’m happily married to my husband Philip and we were married on the coldest day in January (which was January 2nd) on Fort Meade. We are thinking when we have our 10 year wedding anniversary that we are going to go somewhere tropical or hopefully we will be stationed in Hawaii so we can get married on the beach. I am a proud United States Air Force Wife and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I will be starting school this fall at Anne Arundel Community College, where I will get a transfer degree in Nursing. My dream job is to be a Neonatal Nurse or and ER Nurse. My husband and I currently live on base at Fort Meade-We hope to be here another 2 more years till I finish school. We have not faced our first deployment yet but we had a close call before we tied the knot. We have a Husky named Rome and he is 2 years old. I have the PERFECT LIFE!!!
